AFCON 2021: CAMEROON WILL HOST THE TOURNAMENT

. The president of the African football Confederation Hamad Hamad has declared the date for the start of the continental competition in Cameroon after he held a meeting with local officials. ‘“the African cup of Nations Total Cameroon 2021 will take place from the 9^th of January to the 6 of February 20210” he said. The date of the competition has been brought closer by 6months. Initially it use to hold in the month of June to July, but the continental football boss précised that the date adjustment was requested by Cameroon government. “We did not only listen to the Cameroon officials, we insisted that the technicians and the director general of the meteorology department should come in and really explain to us clearly with the aid of figures”.

In a nutshell, the African Cup of Nations 2021 will be plaid 6 months earlier. Hamad Hamad underline that the CHAN (African nations Championship) which will be plaid from the 4^th to the 25^th of April 2020 will serve as the test for the infrastructures and organization, “we said why not talk with the authorities in Cameroon to see if we could warmup a little bit with the CHAN to see if there is a malfunction somewhere that we will correct so that the AFCON should be in the best possible conditions”. Knowing that there will be much pressure on Cameroon for bringing the competition 6months earlier, CAF has put in place a watchdog committee to help Cameroon come out of the challenge successfully.

At the end of its visit in Cameroon, the African Football Confederation expressed its satisfaction to the efforts put in place so far.  All the same there will be a control commission that will come to the country later to check the readiness of the country. This implicitly means that Cameroon has not completely achieved the hosting.
