The indomitable lions of Cameroon renewed with victory at home in a first leg AFCON 2021 qualifier match plaid against the Mozambique national side at home in the Douala reunification stadium on Thursday November 12. It has been more than 20 years that the African Champions had not plaid in Douala, but this time it was rather unfortunate that the match was being plaid without spectators in the sparckling rebuilt Douala Omni sport stadium because of the coronavirus pandemic. Nevertheless, football diehards staid outside the stadium and chanted while the match went on.

The African Cup of Nation qualifier match brought back confidence both in the national selection and in the public as they gave the visiting team a memorable 4 – 1 thrashing. The match could be termed a match of renewed confidence as Aboubakar Vincent and Njie Clinton two attackers of the selection gained back theirs by scoring again for the team after several months of absence. With the first (captain for the day) scoring two goals and the second scoring one, while Zambo Anguissa coming from the midfield to score another with a header sending the Portuguese born head coach Antonio Consesao gaga with joy.  The second leg of the encounter is scheduled this day Monday November 11 at 5 pm Yaoundé time in the Zimbabwean capital.
