CAMEROON: Indomitable Lions’ victory for honor.

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon yesterday beat the Desert Foxes of Algeria 2 goals to nil in a stakeless Russia 2018 world cup eliminatory match at the Yaoundé Hamadou Ahidjo stadium. The match that was counting for the fifth playing day of the African zone world cup qualifier group B saw the two teams play for honor as they were both already eliminated.

African record holder for world cup participation (seven times) enchanted their home crowd yesterday in a well dominated encounter with Clincton Njie scoring the curtain raiser in the 24th minute of the first half. The 24 years old Olympique Marsaille attaquer signed his comeback in the national selection in the best of ways, after an injury that kept him away for a while. Njie beat goalkeeper Mbolhi Adi Rais   of Algeria with a right footer from a back pass given by Vincent Aboubakar to send supporters jubilating once more after a long time. The young international forward just confirmed the good shape that is noticed of him in his French based team.

Coming back from the dressing room, the Fennecs of Algeria will wake up from slumber with a series of dangerous moves in the Cameroonian’s vital zone but the ever vigilant Fabrice Odoua will not be distracted in his goalkeeping duty.  At the 88th minute, Franz Pangop put the final nail on the Algerian coffin with a strike coming from a counteroffensive ball, for Cameroon 2, Algeria 0. Coach Hugo Broos had just replaced Clincton Njie (first goal scorer of the match) a minute ago to put the only home base player in the selection, Franz Pangop. The Union Sportive football Club of Douala striker was touching his first ball of the match, in his first international encounter with the national team and scoring his first goal. What a dream come true!
