In his first grand media outing within the country since he was freed from jail October 5th 2019, Pr Maourice Kamto president of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM) spoke to Equinox television yesterday evening with a large audience. In his interview, the politician touched all current issues happening in Cameroon and also cleared the air as concerned his supposed relationship with the diaspora who vandalized the Cameroon embassy in France 27th January 2019.

Kamto in unequivocal terms condemned the act and denied any links between him and the vandals. “I have always told you, neither me personally nor CRM are in no way related to the act of vandalism. I respect the Cameroonian diaspora, I understand that because they like their country they could express themselves in a way but I do not appreciate the methods they used”. The diaspora has however appreciated CRM president’s reaction. They had fought hard for his liberation while he was jailed for almost 9 moths when he and his sympathizers made an unauthorized public march.

on the February 2020 municipal and parliamentary elections, the politician said he made a surprising pull out of the race because the electoral code was not up to date and because no solution was give yet by the regime to the turmoil going on in the two English speaking region of Cameroon even after the Major national dialogue. So to him going to the election was accepting that the country was divided or accepting the sufferings of other Cameroonians.
