CAMEROON: MOBILE PHONE TAX IMPLEMENTATION SUSPENDED.

President Paul Biya yesterday demanded that the electronic mobile phone tax of 33% implemented to Cameroonians since October 15th should be suspended. This decree cam surprisingly after a general outcry of the population show a discontentment of a tax that seemed to be high and uncomfortable.

Cameroonians were happy and preferred that the tax be taken from an indirect source that will not be very visible to the consumers, instead of proceeding in a very blatant method. A lot of people think that the mechanism of this method was not well verified before it was published by the ministry of post and telecommunication.

It is important to note that the mobile phone tax are just suspended not canceled. This means that it will be paid in a different way. It is just a matter of time.
