Cameroon’s economy at a recession with covid-19

Celestin Tawamba president of the Cameroon union of entrepreneur known by its French acronym GICAM warns that the economy of the country is on a very bad shape as the coronavirus pandemic strikes hard. Mr Tawamba says 92 percent of the countries enterprises have been touched by the pandemic and have laid out a lot of workers as their activities have slowed down.

GICAM thinks that the government was supposed to do something to help the businesses in the country. They warned that if this situation continues, Cameroon risk an economic and social crisis in the nearest future in addition to the health crisis. In some African countries like Niger, Senegal and Cote d’ Ivoire, the government have come to the aid of their economy. It should be noted that coronavirus irrupted in Cameroon 2 months ago. It has already affected 1705 persons, 58 dead and 805 cured.
