DOUALA: Heavy rains provoke flood in parts of the city

Inhabitants of most parts of the city of Douala woke up this morning with their feet in water. The heavy rains that started in the early hours of the night yesterday has flooded most parts of the capital city due to absence of drainage. Houses, shops, schools and offices were full with water and the people were helpless and unhappy as the cried out for the government to help them and construct drainages for the water to flow away freely.

I the Mabanda quarters in Bonaberi West of Douala, a woman cried out “the rainy season is just starting and we are flooded to this level, what will happen when we will enter the heart of the rainy season. Please let the government see on what they can do for us, we are just begging”. The roads in Mabansa, apilcam and Fores bar quarters were so flooded that people could hardly find their way out to work. Cars were almost completely cover.
