The seven soldiers indicted late last year for the murder of two women and their young children in the North of Cameroon last year appear this Monday before the Military Court in Yaoundé.
A year and a month is the time that has elapsed since the broadcast of the video that led to a public outcry and the arrest of seven soldiers involved in the murder incident in the Far North of the country. The alleged murderers appear Monday, August 19 before the Yaoundé Military Court to respond to acts of “co-action of murder”, “violation of instructions” and “complicity of murder”.
Three of the soldiers concerned appeared in the July 2018 video showing the execution of women and children with alleged links to Boko Haram. The video had stirred public opinion. This, especially since the Cameroonian military are often accused by NGOs of resorting to unorthodox practices on the ground.
Faced with this general indignation, the authorities reacted by refuting the involvement of the Cameroonian military in this act. Then later acknowledged the facts and announced the arrest of seven soldiers.
