The 2019 CAF Award ceremony that took place in Cairo Egypt yesterday January 7th saw Cameroon’s female national football team emerging best team in the continent in the just ended year. The Award came like a consolation price to the country as expectations were high with everybody waiting for Njout Njoya Ajar to win the feminine Balon d’or.
In the competition to the prestigious award they were three, Asisat Oshuola from Nigeria, Desiree Ellis of South Africa and Njout Njoya ajara from Cameroon. The Nigerian skipper did not come to Cairo certainly thinking that she had not done anything brilliant last year to merit a fourth distinction. Many people in Cameroon think that Njoy Ajara was better placed to win the trophy. But unfortunately… . It is unbelievable how Cameroon could immerge best female national team in the continent and Coach Alain Djeumfa does not win the best coach award. Only CAF president Hamad Hamad can answer this.
In a nutshell, Samuel Eto’s country came out only with the best female selection, and two players in the continents 11, Andre Onana at the goal post and Joel Matip at the defense. Though he had said that he will no more play for the lions. The Africa best male footballer award went undoubtable to Sadio Mane.
