Cameroon sport and physical education minister Narcisse Muwelle Kombi announced in national television CRTV yesterday July 15 2019, that Indomitable Lions head coach Clarence Seedof’s contract for coaching the team will not be renewed following the African champion’s disqualification in the 8th final of the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2019) tournament in Egypt.
The Minister declared that Seedof “is not fit for the job”. Pr Kombi also accused Seedof of failing to manage the team including having problems with is assistant Parick Kluivert. Reports say that Kluivert was making his intentions clear of wanting to be the head coach rather than an assistant.
43years old Clerance Seedof of the Netherlands was appointed to coach the African champions in August 2018. He led the team to the 8th finals of the competition where he was beaten by the Super Eagles of Nigeria 3 goals to 2.
WHY ALWAYS A FOREIGN COACH?
Following the disgraceful debacle of the Indomitable Lions, current African champion in the 8th finials of the ongoing African Cup of Nation going on in Egypt, many tongues got loose and many questions thrown in the air. Why must it be Clerance Seedof with very little coaching experience to coach an immensely reputed national side like the indomitable Lions of Cameroon? Why must it always be a foreign coach? Even though experience has proven over the years that foreign coaches in the like of Claude le Roir, Pierre Le Chantre, Hugo Broos, just to name always come to Cameroon as no names and go back with big names due to the enormous football talent that the country has.
When will the Cameroon authorities learn from history? In the year 2000 a national, Jean Paul Akono took the Indomitable Lions to Sydney Olympic games and worn its only Olympic gold medal in the category. In 1994 Nseke Leonar another national coach qualified the team for the World Cup in the U S A but was substituted to French man Henry Michel who took the team to the most catastrophic expedition of its history. The joy of every Cameroonians will be great if the authorities of this country could copy good examples from Senegal and Algeria who are both in the finals of the completion and are bot using national coaches.
