
NO BALLON D’OR THIS YEAR 2020

The renowned French football Newspaper announced yesterday that that the famous world best footballer award BALLON D’OR will not hold this year 2020 for the first time since 1956 due to the effect of covid-19 in the various championships. The decision was reached at after a serious reflection by the organizers.
It is important to note that the world football season has been seriously perturbed by the deadly pandemic coronavirus as a lot of championships suspended their activities. Editor in chief of the Magazine France football said that it was not proper to compare players who have plaid 35 or 40 matches with those who had just 25matches.
The Ballon d’or 2019 award was grabbed by the Argentine wander boy Barcelona midfielder Leonel Messi, who was winning the award for the fifth time. Although Frenchman Karim Benzema had a wonderful season with his club side Real Madrid this year and was seen as a possible winner together with the polish striker Robert Lewandosky, football lovers will have to wait till 2021 to see la cream de la cream of footballer walk on the red carpet putting on suits.
