CAMEROON: Pastor kidnapped in South west Region

Pastor Kalle of the Muyuka sub-Division, South west region of Cameroon was kidnaped over the weekend by the suspected separatist fighters for his registration as a chancellor on an electoral list in the upcoming 2020 legislative and municipal elections. Lately separatist have been kidnapping or killing inhabitants of the Northwest and Southwest region who get involve in the programed elections.  

Earlier this month was the house of the National Assembly vice-president and Social Democratic Front (SDF) parliamentarian Joseph Mba Ndam,that was set ablaze for his party’s involvement in the upcoming elections. There was also reports of another SDF Mayor who was kidnapped for the same reasons.

Visibly, the atmosphere has become very unsafe for all politicians who wish to go in for the elections. The SDF party has vowed to stand up to the challenge and go in for the political contest despite the enormous threat. The party certainly still have the bitter souvenir of the 1992 legislative election which they boycotted, and wish they have not recovered from the after effect till date.
