The president of the National assembly Cavaye Yeguie Djibril yesterday 11 December 2019 called  for an extraordinary session of the assemble to hold on Friday 13th of December 2019 by request of the Head of State President Paul Biya.

The last ordinary session of the National Assembly for this year was ending yesterday as the Head of State’s request came in. At the publication of Cavaye’s call for the extraordinary session, there was an outburst of speculations by enlightened citizens at all corners of the country, for a lot of things have been left unsolved. The 3 years Anglophone conflict, the Major National Dialogue’s resolutions not yet applied, the proposed special status of the Northwest and Southwest Regions which has not yet been defined and now the municipal and legislative elections which has been scheduled for the 9 February 2020. So obviously a lot of those things if not all are the reason why the extraordinary session has been convened.

Some think that the extraordinary session has be call out of international pressure on Cameroon. Especially that the United Nation Security Council that started holding yesterday in New York tabled the crisis in the Anglophone region of Cameroon and its gross human right violation, the extrajudicial killings, unlawful torture and arbitrary detention. Ambassador Kelly Craft, United States’ permanent representative at the United Nation said that the use of military is not a solution to the sociopolitical crisis that is destroying the region. Earlier in the month of November it was Tibor Nagy the United States Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs who said the same thing about the conflict.
