SOMALIA: MUTINY IN MOGADISHU CENTRAL PRISON

Mutiny this night in the Mogadishu Central prison has cause 19 dead, 4 guards and 15 in the rank of the inmates. Some sources say that the inmates rushed to the armory, but others say that the inmates had already prepared their weapons over time in view of the mutiny. The prison was already very porous, they said. Guns, phones and other illicit substances could enter the prison easily.
Opposition to the Somalian regime thinks that this other mutiny clearly shows the weakness of the regime. Life in the Mogadishu Central Prison is not easy. This could have been the main cause of the mutiny. Nevertheless, the situation has been brought under control as it stands.
